35th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference Shatters Previous Attendance Record

The world's largest gathering of anti-fraud professionals drew more than 5,800 attendees from 88 countries to the ARIA Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and online for its 2024 event.

AUSTIN, Texas (July 8, 2024) — The yearly flagship event of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the 35th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference on June 23–28, 2024, was one for the record books. The total attendance of more than 5,800 broke the previous year’s record for the number of attendees who participated in the conference either in person or online. 

Keynote speakers for the 35th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference included:

  • Jonna Mendez, Former CIA Chief of Disguise and author
  • Emmitt Smith, Pro Football Hall of Fame running back, businessman and entrepreneur
  • Damian Williams, U.S. Attorney, Southern District of New York
  • Jennifer Griffith, CFE, and Sarah Carver, CFE, U.S. Social Security whistleblowers
  • Matt Friedman, CEO of The Mekong Club and human trafficking expert
  • Lizzie Johnson, Investigative journalist, The Washington Post
  • Brent Cassity, convicted fraudster, author and podcaster

Outstanding members of the fraud fighting community and two ACFE chapters were honored at the event as part of the annual ACFE Awards. The 2024 honorees were:

  • Cressey Award: Damian Williams
  • Cliff Robertson Sentinel Award: Sarah Carver, CFE, and Jennifer Griffith, CFE
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) of the Year Award: Dr. David Weber, CFE
  • Outstanding Achievement in Community Service Award: Erin Rene Ellebracht
  • Baker Award: Michael Schidlow, CFE
  • Educator of the Year Award: Marie Rice, Ph.D, CFE, CIA
  • Guardian Award: Jeff German and Lizzie Johnson
  • Hubbard Award: Mary Breslin, CFE, CIA, ACA
  • Chapter of the Year Award: South Africa Chapter and Knoxville Chapter
  • Chapter Community Service and Outreach Award: Middle Tennessee Chapter

On Monday night of the conference, the ACFE Foundation Charity Poker Tournament was held to raise money to support future anti-fraud professionals through the funding of scholarships, research and more. The event raised $6,500 dollars through event entry fees and received additional support after the winner of the tournament, Eric Rodriguez of the ACFE Heartland Chapter, donated his cash prize back to the Foundation.
