Anti-fraud professionals from across Europe will convene for training and discussion of the hottest fraud topics in the region when they meet on 25-27 March at the 2012 ACFE European Fraud Conference in London.

The agenda of presentations by worldwide fraud experts will cover subjects such as conducting internal investigations, using social media to combat fraud, the challenges of bribery and corruption and many others. The opening keynote address will be presented by James D. Ratley, CFE, president and CEO of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the world’s largest anti-fraud organisation and premier provider of anti-fraud training and education.

Other featured speakers include Carman L. LaPointe, CFE, CIA, CCSA, U.N. Under-Secretary General, Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS). Honored internationally for her distinguished service, LaPointe will present her keynote address, “Challenges and Strategies of Recruiting and Managing OIOS Auditing, Investigations and Inspections/Evaluations Functions.”

Stephen Harrison, Chief Executive, National Fraud Authority (United Kingdom), will also address the conference. His keynote presentation, “The National Fraud Authority Initiative: Fighting Fraud Together,” will provide insights into fraud strategy in the U.K. and its increased focus on prevention and disruption.

Results from a fraud survey conducted by the ACFE lend a sense of urgency to the conference. The organisation’s Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud and Abuse: European Edition estimates that the median fraud loss for European organisations is €420,780 – significantly higher than any other world region, according to the study.

The programme will feature speakers from government entities and private industry with a wide variety of expertise in areas directly related to the international fight against fraud. Attendees will learn the latest in cutting-edge fraud detection techniques and tools, best practices from Europe’s top companies and insight from global leaders into the way fraud is evolving.

Cutting-edge educational sessions include “Interview and Interrogation: The Basics and Beyond” and “Using Indicators and Internal Data to Forecast Fraud,” among many others.

A pre-conference session, “Effectively Using Social Networks and Social Media in Fraud Examinations,” will be held on Sunday, 25 March, while the main conference will commence Monday, 26 March and last through Tuesday, 27 March.
