Professionals to Gather in Prague in March 2013 for ACFE European Fraud Conference

Red flags of fraud, detecting deception, conducting online investigations and other trending topics will be top discussion items when anti-fraud professionals from across Europe convene on 17-19 March 2013 at the ACFE European Fraud Conference in Prague.   

Red flags of fraud, detecting deception, conducting online investigations and other trending topics will be top discussion items when anti-fraud professionals from across Europe convene on 17-19 March 2013 at the ACFE European Fraud Conference in Prague.   

The programme will feature speakers from government entities and the private industry with a wide variety of expertise in international fraud prevention, deterrence and detection.   

Keynote speakers include Italian magistrate Giovanni Kessler, Director-General of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). Kessler’s career includes experience as a Public Prosecutor, serving in international missions and as an elected member of the Italian national parliament.  

The conference will also feature Ian Foxley, chairman of Whistleblowers UK, who was a project manager providing communications work for the Saudi National Guard when he blew the whistle on a corruption scheme involving GPT, a subsidiary of European defence contractor EADS, and the UK Ministry of Defence.  

Also among the keynote speakers: Max-Peter Ratzel, former director of Europol, Europe’s law enforcement agency for tracking the most dangerous criminal and terrorist networks on the continent;  and Alan Bryce, Head of Counter Fraud for the U.K. Audit Commission.  

James D. Ratley, CFE, will present the conference’s opening address, “Enhancing Your Professional Skepticism”. Ratley is president and CEO of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the world’s largest anti-fraud organisation and leading provider of anti-fraud training and education.   

A pre-conference session, “Conducting Internal Investigations: Planning and Logistics”, will be held on Sunday, 17 March, while the main conference will commence Monday, 18 March and last through Tuesday, 19 March.
